Mr. Atul Sahai,
Chairman-Cum Managing Director,
The New India Assurance Co.Ltd.,
Mumbai
Dear Sir,
Re: Joint Representation Dt. 11.11.2020 on
Group Mediclaim Policy(GMC)
and
Deficient Pension Disbursement
This has reference to our Joint Representation
through which we were trying to vent out the anxiety of Elders regarding Group Mediclaim Policy which is due for
renewal in another 35-40 days and a deficient pension disbursement system
adopted by New India.
Please
note that we are not knocking your door merely for a one- line formal
acknowledgement of our memorandum, but knocking second time since we believe
that proper Authority and Responsibility are vested upon you to address and
redress the grievances of senior citizens, whose rights are otherwise
safeguarded under the Constitution of India.
INEFFICIENT
AND DEFICIENT PENSION DISBRSEMENT
We are
pained to note that the incongruities pointed out in our earlier memorandum are
continued unabated by New India. For example, pension for January 2021 was
delayed by one day without prior notice without giving deduction particulars.
When the same incident occured in delaying November Pension with massive
deduction, vehement protests were registered by pensioners pointing out the
relevance of pension slip as implemented by our sister concerns like National
and United India Insurance. It is a blot on New India legacy to continue a
deterrent Pension Cell with following deficiencies:
1. No
intimation to Pensioners about restoration of Full Pension after 15 years.
2. No
strict practice of giving pension calculation sheet.
3. Delay
in commencing regular pension and family pension.
4. No
system to issue pension book, no pension slip, not even SMS on pension credit.
5. Reluctance
to introduce on line submission of life certificate.
6. Retrograde
mindset to change to digital platform denying added advantage and efficient
service to pensioners in the form of Ex-Employee Portal,Video based life
certificate service etc.
7. Delay
in issuing ID cards to Pensioners
8. No distribution of Booklets of Pension Scheme,1995 as amended to one more optees and new pensioners.
9. Delay
to provide an HRMS Website to login and have the facility to view pension
slips, submit life certificate, download Form16 and upload own photo.
10. Failure
to liaison with LIC Pension Dept.to ensure timely disbursement of pension , Form16, pension slip or mere SMS on
pension credit.
11. Total
disrespect of pensioners’ community in not introducing a Grievance Redressal
System.
12. Aversion
towards Pensioners’ Associations to communicate, interact and acknowledge letters.
II. Renewal of Group Mediclaim Policy
As a Global Insurer and Market leader, New
India design new Health Products under ‘file and use’ procedure of IRDAI. But,
it has no qualms to continue with half-cooked product like GMC to serve to its
employees and retirees. We await your
immediate confirmation on the following lines as the renewal date is
fast approaching.
1. No
loading on renewal premium
2. Enhancement
of eligible SI limits to 8,10 and 15 lacs with 100% subsidy.
3. Decentralisation
of claim disbursement at RO level
4. Allow
Domiciliary lumpsum payment
5. Provide
Global cover
6. Free
health checkup every year
7. Cover
for Dental treatment, Hearing Aids and Cochlear implants.
8. Provide
OP Cover
9. Month-wise
deduction of premium from pension
10. Intimation
of renewal through SMS and issue of authorized premium receipt.
11. Settlement
of reimbursement claims within 5 working days
12. Grievance
Mechanism to register complaints
13. Empower
Nodal Officer with a pro-active focus to address grievances
14. Monitor
activities of HI TPA and introduce suitable App to track claim status
15. Regular
update of claim status both by HI TPA and NIA through SMS.
It
will be a repetition to list out another 26 points which were already
highlighted in our referred memorandum.
PA Cover for all Pensioners
We
reiterate our demand for introducing a free Personal Accident Insurance cover
of 10 lakhs each for a pensioner.
Respected CMD, WE elders expect that the immense potential and possibilities at your disposal may be utilized for the benefit of senior citizens who once served the company with all verve. We also wish to remind you that senior citizens are most vulnerable to pandemic situations and won’t survive long to withstand bureaucratic callousness. We expect you to interact soon with elders to know their specific problems. We also reserve our right to approach Appropriate Forums for justice unless we receive positive signals from you within a reasonable time.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
